About Us
Presidency College General Library is a renowned and an archaic library from Pre-Independence period which was established in the year 1850. It has been running successfully till date and it has been updating itself every year. The General library and Departmental library contains about 1, 85,000 volumes of books and there are about 40,000 rare collection of books. About 3,000 volumes are added every year. The professors concerned oversee the departmental libraries and books are issued according to special rule framed by them. The General Library consists of newspapers, magazines, periodicals and journals of all fields. The Digital Library is well equipped with modern facilities and e-resources in the form of CD-ROMS, Online databases, e-books, e-journals, patents, e-standards, theses and reports. This year (2018), the library has enrolled itself in the National Digital Library - INFLIBNET and we have been providing access to digital resources for everyone. To enable everyone with best use of e-resources, we also provide them with free internet facility.
