The Department of Public Administration was established in the year 1982 in Presidency College. Dr. S. Abdul Salam, Associate Professor and Head, a distinguished alumnus of the department with nearly 20 years of teaching and administrative experience leads a team of enriched faculty members and students. The department offers M.A. Public Administration (since 1982), M.Phil. Public Administration (Full Time) (since 1988) and doctoral research program by way of Ph.D. (since 1988) for the benefit of its multi-dimensional and interdisciplinary student background. This department offers a professional job-oriented course. The Department gives space for all the UG students from various streams such as Arts, Sciences and other languages to pursue their higher education. The Faculty Members have also made socially significant contribution towards overall development of the department and students. The department also enriches and enables the students by providing coaching for all competitive examinations such as UPSC, SSC, NET, SLET etc. The department boasts of several distinguished alumni and notable faculty members in the field of public administration.
